Like I have said before, I am in love with texture. Whether it is vintage paper, or a photograph of an old wall withering away with age, I am all about it! Here are my top contenders in my texture folder: my graph paper scan, an image of the most yummy pop of pink, a painted piece of metal, black marker and paint (my most loved!), old cardboard, and more rusty metal in the most wonderful shade of green. There you have it friends, texture galore!

For the past year, I have been slowly (I mean very slowly!) designing a book based on Psalm 139. Here is just a snippet from page 2, v.2. This passage is very dear to my heart and speaks many truths into my life. I've been doing a lot of experiments with type and my beloved scanner (probably my favorite tool to design with). This was one of the firsts results.. very analog and off, which I tend to like. Lunch is calling my name (breakfast tacos!) so I must be off. Enjoy January day 2!

to new hobbies!
Oh, my sweet husband! He is so gracious when I need a model. We were driving back from Home Depot and came across this sweet storage unit with a pretty stellar graphic So, we made the stop and he patiently posed for me. I have really been enjoying photography lately and have been learning a lot. On Christmas day, my dad (who is the master of all photography, well at least to me!) gave me a lecture on composition, repetitive patterns, and of course lighting and something clicked! I had been enlightened friends! I instantly had a new hobby (I have wayyy to many.). The things I love about design are easily transferred into photography. So today, I lift my blue and white Toile mug of hot goodness to new hobbies! To new hobbies, and to Photography, and to very good looking models (aka husband).

It Matters (or should i say !t matters!) is a logo for a ministry I just completed for a local church. The ministry pushes the importance of volunteering and getting involved. I'm pleased with the way it came together and am excited to see it in its element (on signs and brochures).
Christmas is now over and I have a number of projects waiting for me to get my hands on. Can't wait to share the loveliness with all you lovelies.

ARROW LOVE
One design element I have always been fond of is the ever so loved arrow. It's versatile and has the ability to transform into a lovely stationary, tags, logos, patterns, or it can be used to push an idea (which, in my opinion, is when the arrow is at its finest!). The possibilities are endless! As for now, the arrows on today's "to-do" list are directing me to get back to work. Goodbye arrows, hello logos...

Matt & Anna
During the summer, I had the honor of hosting an engagement party for my dear friends, Matt and Anna. This is one awesome couple, and what better way to show that than with an uber cool type driven invitation. Arrows, banners, and texture (which you will soon see is my most favorite medium to design with) accent the eclectic, mix and match typography. The invitations were just the beginning... the party had everything from corn-hole to fringe banners (it was pin worthy people!). Bless my mother-in-law, she was such a help making every little detail come to life. My mom made killer pulled pork sandwiches (I'm not the greatest cook..) and we had the groom and brides most favorite desert... doughnuts!
Speaking of my mom... She's kind of famous in the blog world (well, according to me she is!). She is also a very talented interior designer. Thank God! When it came to designing my place, all I wanted was to be in front of my computer designing things that actually made sense to me. Needless to say, interior design doesn't come natural to me (but i am learning!). It takes a special eye to work in 3D like that, and well, she has that special eye. Check out her work and her blog HERE.
Enjoy the winter air my friends, and most importantly enjoy january!
